Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Markland Hill collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than in the language policies are usually written in.
1. Who we are
Markland Hill, the trading name of A Stott, is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What we collect, and why
We collect as little as we can get away with. Different products collect different things, so they are listed separately.
When you use this website
- Enquiry form: the name, email address, topic and message you send us. We use this only to answer you.
- Server logs: our hosting provider records the IP address, browser user-agent, requested page and timestamp of requests. This is standard web-server logging, used to keep the site running and to investigate abuse.
- Cookies: this website sets no cookies at all — no tracking, no advertising, no analytics. That is also why you are not being asked to dismiss a cookie banner.
- No third-party requests: everything this site loads — stylesheets, scripts, fonts, images — comes from our own server. Opening a page on this website does not tell anybody else that you did.
When you play our Android game
- Account: state exactly what you store — for example an email address, or a sign-in identifier from Google Play Games.
- Game data: your progress, settings and similar. This is stored on our servers so your game continues on any device you sign in from.
- Diagnostics: state whether you use a crash reporter (Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.) and name it. If you do not, say so.
- Notifications: if you allow them, a device notification token so we can tell you when something in your game needs attention. You can withdraw this at any time in your device settings.
- We do not use advertising SDKs, build advertising profiles, or sell personal data to anyone.
When you install our Wix add-ons
- Installation details: the site identifier and the permissions granted at install, supplied to us by Wix, so the add-on can work on your site.
- Configuration: the settings you choose inside the add-on.
- Site-visitor data: Bakehouse Collect records a collection booking against an order — the customer's name, email address, phone number, Wix contact ID, order number and what was ordered. This is written into your own Wix site's CMS and is never sent to us. You remain the data controller for it. The one exception is diagnostic logging: when something fails, the add-on writes an error we can read, and such a message can include an order number or a product name. 4. Who else sees it
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the providers we need to run the service, and only as far as that requires:
- Google Cloud Platform — hosting for this site and our game servers (region: europe-west2, London).
- Google Play — app distribution and payment processing. Google handles payment details; we never see your card.
- Wix — distribution and billing for our add-ons.
- Resend — delivery of enquiry emails to our inbox.
- Purelymail — our email inbox, where enquiries and emails sent to us are kept.
- Crash reporting provider, if any.
- Cloudflare — DNS for our domains, and the proxy this website is served through. Requests pass through Cloudflare in transit, so it sees the IP address and the page requested. We do not use it for analytics, advertising or tracking, and it adds no cookies to these pages.
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
5. Where it is stored
Our servers are hosted in the United Kingdom — Google Cloud's
europe-west2 (London) region. Where a provider transfers data
outside the UK, that transfer relies on UK adequacy regulations or on
standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries: up to 24 months after the conversation ends.
- Account and game data: while your account exists, and for up to 30 days after you delete it.
- Server logs: 30 days, the retention set on our Cloud Logging bucket.
- Purchase and accounting records: six years, as UK tax law requires.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on.
Email hello@marklandhill.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time, or request deletion here if you have already uninstalled it — that page sets out exactly what is removed and what we are obliged to keep.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
8. Children
Our products are not directed at children under 13 — set this to match the age rating you declare on Google Play, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email rather than relying on you to notice.
